Fixing the network for Slack Video Calls even with 25% packet loss

in this post we wanted to share a demo where we tried to conduct a slack video conference over poor network conditions. In the real world, network issues like packet loss often affect the quality of experience for real time applications like Video Conference, VoIP, VPN, Gaming, SD-WAN and much more, and often when conditions get very bad the application will simply freeze, or disconnect, not a great way to keep customers happy!

Take a look below at how Slack fared under poor network conditions, and how our software solution - Rely - was able to fix the issues so that the application returned to normal, even with a bad network.

Pretty cool right! Even at 25% packet loss, where the application freezes and lags and Peter and Kavim could not carry on the conversation, using Steinwurf’s Rely software alongside the application we were able to fix the packet loss and allow the slack video to be smooth and buttery once again.

Steinwurf’s network stabilising software can help service providers to ensure that even when their users are operating over poor Wi-Fi and cellular networks, in parts of the world where connectivity is not as reliable or well developed, their applications can still perform beautifully, the way they intended.
